How to disable wireless network identification (SSID broadcasting) in a home routerSSID broadcasting

To disable SSID broadcasting on your home router, you can follow these steps:

1. Open your web browser and enter the default IP address of your router in the address bar. This is usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. If you are not sure what your router’s IP address is, you can find it in your router’s user manual or by searching online using your router model.

2. Log in to your router’s setup interface using your username and password. If you did not change them from the default settings, the username may be “admin” and the password may be “password” or blank.

3. Once you are in the router’s setup interface, look for a section related to wireless or Wi-Fi settings.

4. Look for a setting related to SSID broadcasting and disable it. It may have an option called “Hide SSID” or “Disable Broadcasting.”

5. Save the changes and restart your router to apply them.

After disabling SSID broadcasting, your wireless network name will not be broadcast in the list of visible networks to nearby devices.

Devices that want to connect to the network must be manually entered with the correct network settings, including the network name (SSID) and password.

It should be noted that disabling SSID broadcasting is not a completely secure procedure, and does not completely protect you from attacks. However, it helps reduce the visibility of the network and makes it less attractive to hackers.
